Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone is enjoying their final summer plans and looking forward to the arrival of fall. In my family, we are excited about the start of the school year and, of course, football season!
I have some very exciting news to share. Pastor John Mittermaier has agreed to serve as our interim pastor! First, I want to express my personal and sincere gratitude to Pastor Karn. The year she has spent with us has been very productive, and I greatly appreciate her leadership and the many ways she has supported our congregation. I hope you will all join me in wishing her well as she begins her next adventure.
Many of you will remember Pastor John Mittermaier, who served as Faith’s pastor in the 1990s and into the early 2000s. We are very fortunate to welcome him back to Faith. His first day will be September 1, so please take some time to introduce yourself, say hello, and give him a warm welcome back to our congregation.
As Faith Lutheran Church transitions into the fall season, there are a number of exciting events and activities in the works. August 30 is Megafair, and we will be welcoming Miami students and inviting them to become part of our Campus Ministry. Jack Gerber and Bryce Cullen are our student interns and will be taking a leading role in planning Campus Ministry activities. Please take some time to meet them, get to know them, and welcome our students as they return to Miami for another school year.
On September 13, following worship services, we will be hosting a cookout for members of our congregation and Miami University students. Please invite your friends and family to join us—everyone is welcome! We hope you’ll come enjoy some good food, fellowship, and time together as a church community.
As we look ahead to the coming months, I ask everyone who uses Simply Giving to take a moment to review their current giving amount and make sure it continues to reflect the pledge they have made to Faith. It is important that our Simply Giving amounts remain consistent with our pledges so that the church can accurately plan and budget for the year ahead. We understand that circumstances can change throughout the year, and we certainly recognize that giving may need to be adjusted when that happens. Your faithful and generous giving allows Faith Lutheran Church to continue its ministry and mission in our congregation and throughout our community. Thank you for your continued generosity and commitment to Faith.
I also want to publicly thank everyone involved in planning and helping to assemble our new pipe organ. It is officially completed. I don’t want to list names only because I am afraid of omitting someone. But the entire congregation is thankful. This instrument will serve the members of Faith Lutheran Church for generations to come. It is a real legacy. Thank You!
Finally, if you use Facebook, please take a moment to follow Faith Lutheran Church’s new Facebook page. Following the page is a great way to stay up to date on worship services, church activities, community events, and other news from Faith. We would also appreciate it if you would share the page with friends and family who might be interested in connecting with our church. The more people who follow the page, the more our posts will appear in Facebook feeds and the more opportunities we will have to reach people in our community. Thank you for helping us spread the word and build our online community!
I look forward to seeing everyone this fall and sharing in all that is ahead for Faith. Thank you for everything you do to make Faith Lutheran Church such a special community.
